On April the 14th, the Semana Santa hits Spain again. Famous for its colourful processions, the animating music, fireworks and a town full of celebrating people, the Semana Santa is one of the biggest highlights in Barcelona. Starting in the week before Palmsunday, magnific street processions are organized with men carrying statutes of saints and self-made objects in order to move the heavy wooden symbols. They represent the different stages of the Passion, the Death and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ and are displayed on floats, which are carried by at least 6 persons. To visitors, these processions are very impressing and totally different as most European countries do not celebrate this period that enormous. Even within Spain, people travel to see one of the most famous processions. Therefore, you should keep in mind that you will have to face arising traffic and fully booked hotels when visiting Spain in these days. Other opportunities like apartments are a perfect alternative as they can be considered as cheaper and more comfortable. Moreover, you will be able to have a more individual stay in Spain and companies offer a huge variety of apartments in places such as Barcelona and of great quality.
I am of looking for a hotel stay, but apartments will do. I am not after of the place to stay but the events rather. It will be solemnly nice to watch the procession and I may reflect more on it.
